Here is the blog I promised. The boys are now napping, so I have a little time on my hands. Peyton wanted a Veggie Tales party. One little problem...they don't make much for party decorations, and you can't order a Veggie Tales cake at the grocery store bakery. I was able to get plates, napkins, balloons and a few party favors from www.veggietales.com. The rest was up to me. I had to get a little creative.
First, I had to make a birthday banner. I used my Cricut to cut out the letters. I found some Veggie Tales pictures online, printed them on a full size label sheet, then cut them out and stuck them to the card stock for the pictures between the words. I also hung different colored strands of curling ribbon from the curtain rod.
Then I had to make a couple more favors. I was able to get crayons, temporary tattoos, stickers, bouncy balls and silly bands from the website, but I wanted more. On the website they have some printable bookmarks and a match game. I printed them on regular paper and stuck them to colored card stock. I also laminated the bookmark.
Next, I made a Pin the Tooth on Larry game. I have zero artistic talent, so I was very proud of how well my Larry turned out. I made him out of poster board.

I don't know why it flipped the picture! |
The day of the party I made my own Larry and Bob cakes and French Peas cake pops. The cake pops didn't turn out great, but it was my first time ever making them. I cut Larry out of a 9x12 sheet cake, and I made Bob out of a 9" round pan. I cut a cake pop in half to make their noses. I used a piece of the cake that I cut off to make Larry for Bob's stem.
We had a lot of fun at the party. Because I made most of the stuff myself, it didn't cost much.

He really wanted a tuba, but since we couldn't find one he said a trumpet would be okay =) |
